Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Putting up impressive numbers during his final NHL season despite his advanced age of 39, Jean Beliveau would average better than a-point-a-game during the 1970-71 campaign, with 76 points scored in 70 games. An additional 22 post-season points would be plotted in just 20 playoffs games, with the superstar winning his 10th and final Stanley Cup as a player. We have the puck Big Jean used to score his 503rd career goal, which was his 21st of the 1970-71 season, occurring in an 8-2 victory over Los Angeles on March 6th. Netted in the second period, Frank Mahovlich and J.C. Tremblay assisted, with a piece of tape added over the Habs logo on the official Converse gamer, with “503” handwritten. A signed LOA from Jean Beliveau will accompany.
The puck exhibits light wear with a bit of loss to the Converse logo, with some toning to the affixed tape. A display plaque with affixed metal plate and engraved details is also included, ideal for display with the puck if so desired by the winning bidder. There is also a small 4 ½” x 6 ½” photo included of Beliveau holding this very puck, with a gold pen signature along with a personalization. Also included is a copy of the original score sheet of the game showing that Beliveau scored at 2:05 of the second period and was assisted on the goal by Frank Mahovlich and JC Tremblay.
