Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Classic mid-1970s Black Hawks game-worn white durene jersey with the crossover neck style on the front of the collar is attributed to the late Hubert “Pit” Martin, who wore No. 7 for Chicago from 1967-68 until he was traded to Vancouver early in the 1977-78 season. The Wilson tagging in the back of the neck is now in two pieces and quite frayed so you can no longer read the size. The Gunzos tag below is no longer present. It has a garter-style fight strap and evidence of a former small nameplate. There are three team repairs on the front, including one at the top of the team crest, one on the rear tail and another on the right sleeve cuff.
More game wear includes black marks and board burns on the front tail, red paint transfer on the back of the upper left sleeve and upper left back, and on the upper right back, black marks and a couple of unrepaired holes on the right sleeve, an unrepaired hole and a bit of red paint transfer and fabric runs on the left sleeve. There is pilling inside the sleeves and the stitching has come loose on one end of the elbow gusset inside the left sleeve.
There is no evidence of any number change on the sleeves and back, and the team crest on the front and tomahawks logos on the shoulders are also all original, showing no alterations. It is most likely the jersey was recycled down to a farm team as was typical for Black Hawks jerseys from this period.
