Canada’s first major league baseball team, the Montreal Expos were named after the Expo ’67 World’s Fair event that captivated both the city and province, with the club playing at Jarry Park from their inception in 1969, until moving to Olympic Stadium in 1977. We have a first home game Expos program from April 14th 1969, along with a souvenir ticket for the inaugural home opener. The roughly 7” x 10” 62 page program (vs the St Louis Cardinals) has been scored, with “Ouverture 1969” handwritten on the cover, with three signatures present on different pages including the Expos first manager Jim Fanning. With the staples tightly affixed, the cover exhibits toning along with a few creases and edge/spine wear, with a few edge tears on the back cover. There is also moderate toning to the interior. The ticket is 2 ½” x 7 ½” and is encapsulated in Lucite, with these given as souvenirs to season ticket holders. With just a tiny section of paper loss along the perforation along with some print marks on the reverse, the ticket remains in gorgeous condition.
