Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

The “A” sewn on the left breast of Joel Otto’s 1993-94 Flames game-worn alternate captain’s jersey attests to the American center’s leadership role in Calgary. One of the NHL’s top defensive forwards throughout his 11 seasons with the Flames, Otto was a veteran of Calgary’s “Battle of Alberta” rivalry with the Edmonton Oilers and a Stanley Cup champion with the 1988-89 Flames. There are black marks on the front and both sleeves of his jersey, which has a “Calgary Flames Hockey Club 1993-1994 Season White Jersey – Set #2” team stamp heat-screened in red inside the rear tail, and Maska and size 56 flag tags in the back of the neck. Comes with a Flames LOA signed by HOFer Lanny McDonald.
The Flaming C crest on the front and the numbers on the sleeves and back have extensive red thread stitching that shows inside the jersey where the red twill was repaired/reinforced, possibly resulting from team laundering that has left the red twill portions with a puckered look.
More game wear includes board burns on the sleeves, including one with yellow paint transfer on the left sleeve, and pilling in the middle of the rear hem and inside the rear tail.
