Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
One of hockey’s most storied venues, Madison Square Garden III was first home to the New York Americans upon opening in 1925, with the Rangers taking residence the following season. With a maximum capacity of just over 18,000, the Garden would also host numerous cultural events, final shutting its doors in 1968. We have a program from the final game at MSG played on Feb 11th against Detroit, and it’s been signed by 20, with the important event bringing out some past legends. At 8 ½” x 11”, the 56 pg program, desirable in it's own right, features each signature scripted on the cover in a variety of inks, with deceased HOFers Shore, Plante, Pratt, Cowley, Richard, Lach, Apps, Moore and others. The signatures all remain fairly bold with no fading or loss.
Others who have signed this last game at MSG program are Tom Johnson, Ken Mosdell, Fleming Mackell, Milt Schmidt, Lorne Carr, Cooney Weiland, Sid Smith, Johnny Gagnon and a few others. The cover is split along the spine from the bottom to midway up, with expected handling wear with some light creasing also present, with the interior remaining fairly clean.
