Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Three desirable vintage pucks are up for grabs in this lot, with a pair of Montreal Canadiens team logo pucks including from 1967-68 along with an example from the 1958-62 time frame with an interesting backstory. Lastly, we have a 1972 Vancouver Canucks game puck that hails from the NHL and Hockey Diversified Goal Puck Program, and it was used by Chuck Lefley to score a goal. The 1958-62 Habs puck is accompanied with a box with handwritten French details that state “Miss Leblanc, souvenir from Jean Beliveau 1967, 1st goal of Jean of the 1967 playoffs vs New York" (Beliveau did score in that game on April 6th 1967). Despite the original 1958-62 time frame, we believe it is quite possible that it was used later.
The 1958-62 Canadiens puck shows considerable use, with solid logos on each side along with no major gouges, chips or cuts, while the accompanying box with the handwritten provenance is in poor condition. The 1967-68 Habs Converse puck remains in excellent condition with just light wear to the puck along with a solid Converse logo, while the Canadiens logo has fading along with a section of wear/discolourment at the bottom of the logo. Lastly, the Goal Puck Program Canucks example features a lightly-stained Canucks logo, with the Goal Puck Program label dirty. It states that it was used by Chuck Lefley to score for the Montreal Canadiens on Dec 15th 1972.
