Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A veteran of 10 NHL seasons, forward Sergei Zholtok sadly lost his life when he left a HK Riga 2000/HC Dinamo Minsk contest with 5 minutes left due to his cardiac arrhythmia, collapsing after he returned to the dressing room. The cause was later determined to be heart failure. This Minnesota Wild captain’s jersey was worn by the Latvian native in 2002-03, and it’s been signed. Size tagging sits along the collar, with CCM and NHL crests on the back neckline and bottom hem respectively. Featuring an attractive and partially embroidered twill team crest, the white V-neck has been accented with triple-twill captain’s “C”, sleeve and verso numbers, with matching alternate patches over each shoulder. The important “2003 Hockey Fights Cancer” crest resides over the right breast.
Game-wear is heavy on the garment, with a number of stick marks on the lower front, along with additional marks and faint board burns over each sleeve. There is also a small hole present midway up the right sleeve. Zholtok signed along the middle section of the first back “3”, and the signature displays well.
