Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
By definition, goaltending legend Martin Brodeur's rookie era stretches over three seasons: a four-game stint with the New Jersey Devils in 1991-92, 32 games with the AHL Utica Devils in 1992-93 and then his full season back with the Devils in 1993-94. This vintage and well-worn set of Bauer 3000 boots and blades were worn by Brodeur during this period, the dawn of one of the greatest careers to date. The skates show loads of wear at the boots and tongue with dozens of black and red post paint marks along with cowling and blade holders. Each is marked on the bottom in black marker with "BRO". Photos from Martin's first call-up in 1991-92 and then again during his first full season with the Devils in 1993-94 show him wearing this exact model of skate. Martin Brodeur holds many NHL records including most games played, most wins and most shutouts. It will be tough to topple Martin from his lofty perch. Obtained directly from the family of Martin Brodeur in the sale of a larger lot of equipment, the skates will come with a copied letter of provenance from the family member detailing how they were obtained.
