A Stanley Cup champion with Dallas in 1999, the powerful Stars would hail as Western Conference champs in 2000, advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight season. Originating from his second-to-last season in Texas, we have HOFer Ed Belfour’s 2000-01 Dallas Stars game-worn and photo-matched pads, blocker and glove, along with a pair of Stars game-worn pants, a neck protector most likely used with Stars, and a signed inner glove that was worn inside his trapper. Near complete ensembles from prominent Hall of Fame goaltenders rarely make themselves available to the collecting community, especially with the chief components photo-matched. An LOA from Mr. Belfour will accompany.
The breakdown for each of the Ed Belfour game-worn items offered is as follows. 1) Photo-matched goal pads. Vaughn Legacy models in Stars green, white and black, each pad has “Belfour” embroidered along the outside edge, with his familiar eagle motif near the outside bottom. Tremendous use is apparent, with a ton of wear and puck marks on each, along with heavy rubbing to the leather. A number of team repairs are also present, attesting to their prolonged period of use. At least half a dozen repairs are on each pad, including a few larger examples. 2) Photo-matched blocker. A matching Vaughn Legacy model, “Belfour” is embroidered onto the thumb/wrist protector, along with Eddie’s eagle motif along the face. Great use is visible, with a ton of puck marks present, along with wear to the palm section. 3) Photo-matched trapper. A matching Vaughn Legacy model to the pads and blocker, “Belfour” is embroidered onto the wrist guard, with Eddie’s eagle motif along the back section of the pocket. Great use is again exhibited, with heavy wear throughout the pocket. The pads, blocker and glove have all been photo-matched to the same image. Getty image 650423 from Nov. 17th 2000 has been matched to the pads by many marks and wear patterns on both pads, and to the repair on the middle section of the left pad. For the Trapper, the same Getty image has been matched to the scratch at the bottom of the "V" of "Vaughn" on the interior of the glove. The blocker has been matched to a number of marks present. 4) Game-worn pants. Tackla models, an embroidered NHL shield crest rests on the right pant leg, with all padding still intact. Great use is exhibited, with nice wear present. 5) Game-worn neck guard. Manufactured by Vaughn, the neck guard shows heavy wear from prolonged use. 6) Game-worn inner glove. Worn inside his trapper, the solid blue glove has been signed by Ed across the palm in marker, and he's added his number.
