Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A blow still hard to deal with, Jean Beliveau’s passing in December of 2014 is still deeply felt in his home province of Quebec, and especially in his beloved Montreal. These 22 items all feature Le Gros Bill, and include a number of desirable pieces. First, we have original artwork of the superstar (13 ¾” x 18”) by Fred Groves. A caricature of Beliveau is pictured in a dream sequence, with onlookers present. Next we have a Mailhot & Freres hockey stick rack sign (6” x 12”) that pictures Big Jean, along with the company’s telephone number. There's a Jean Beliveau Night poster and folder, a numbered (22/1004) souvenir career puck, a sports card show advertising piece (10” x 21 ¾”), Nesbitt bottle caps, signed photos and more!
Also included in this neat Beliveau lot we have a pair of Molson’s Beliveau hockey books from the 1950s, one in English, the other French, a vintage 8” x 10” photo with other Habs including Richard, O’Connor, St Laurent and Geoffrion, a Group 2 Beliveau Beehive photo, a pair of signed 8” x 10” photos including an image of Jean on the golf course, a copy of Sports magazine from 1964 with Beliveau on the cover and more! The majority of the items just exhibit normal wear and not abuse. The original artwork is rolled and it exhibits toning, while the hockey stick sign exhibits wear to the attachment pieces, along with a few spots of rust.
