Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
From the 1966-67 season that witnessed Chicago Black Hawks stalwart Stan Mikita awarded the Art Ross, Hart and Lady Byng Memorial Trophies, we have a plaque that was presented to the Hall of Famer for recognition of his 97th point of the 1966-67 season, which tied the contemporary record for most points in a season. At roughly 15” x 18”, the ¾” thick wooden plaque features a mounted generic metal hockey player amid the foreground, with a gold-coloured shield behind stating “Stan Mikita/Tied N.H.L. Record/97 Points in Regular Season/Assisted On Goal By Ken Hodge/Against Ed Giacomin – New York Rangers/April 2, 1967”. The plaque itself features some beautiful scrollwork along the perimeter, with added laurel wreaths on either side of the mounted shield.
In beautiful condition, there are a few marks/dings to the plaque, including light scratches to the metal portions and wear along the wooden edges and reverse.
