Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
From his NHL rookie season and swan song, Dmitri Bykov only saw a single season of action with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002-03. This Red Wings jersey was worn by Bykov during that season, and it’s been photo-matched. With size 54 tagging affixed to the collar, there is also NHL and KOHO patches on the lower hem and back neckline. Styled with attractive tackle twill numbers and letters, this “1st Set” garment has the back name sewn directly onto the jersey. The rubberized team patch sits on the inside hem, and the original team-store price tag remains attached. With a gorgeous and clean team crest, we should mention that it exhibits slight puckering.
Visible game-use on the garment includes dark marks on the lower front and sleeves, as well as 8 team repairs, with 3 on the front, 4 on the right sleeve and a single example on the left. As mentioned, this sweater has been photo-matched. Getty image #1669891 from Nov 19th 2002 has been matched to the black mark on the top of the team crest, and Getty image #52293619 has been matched to the two long team repairs below the team crest.
