An NHL mainstay seeing action in parts of over 10 seasons, Gus Marker spent three of those years in a Leafs sweater, finishing out his career there along with the Brooklyn Americans. This pair of documents includes Marker’s 1938-39 Leafs contract, and his release from the club in 1942. The 8 ½” x 13 ¾” document calls for a salary of $4000.00, including a $100.00 bonus, and it’s been signed by Marker as well as deceased Hall of Famers Frank Calder, Hap Day and Conn Smythe. The 7 ¼” x 8 ½” release is dated April 14 1942. Signed by coach Hap Day, it states that Marker has been unconditionally released by Toronto. Both documents and signatures remain in excellent condition, with just normal handling wear.
