Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Remembered for his stalwart two-way play, Doug Gilmour would see action with seven different NHL clubs including Montreal, St. Louis, Toronto, New Jersey, Buffalo and Chicago. The Kingston native would also spend time with Calgary, where he would average more than a-point-a-game during his four seasons in Alberta. This Flames alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the Cup winner in 1991-92, and it’s been twice signed. Currently void of tagging along the collar, the solid white jersey features embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the back bottom hem, and it’s been styled with a gorgeous Flames triple-twill team crest. Double-twill numbers and alternate’s “A” have also been utilized, with the important NHL 75th anniversary patch over the right breast.
Game-wear on the vented collar sweater includes dark marks on the lower front, with additional examples over each sleeve. Board burns are also present, with a pair of small slits appearing on the upper and lower left sleeve. Gilmour has signed both the front and back in thin black marker including his number, and the signatures display extremely well. We should also note that the alternate’s “A” has been very loosely affixed to the jersey.
