Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Scarce regional issue here features cards that were produced in New Brunswick by an unknown manufacturer to pay tribute to the 1932-33 Moncton Hawks, winners of the Allan Cup as Canada's top amateur team. They're blank-backed, with now eight different cards known to exist. A Jimmy Foster example has received an impressive mark of EX/NM 6 (80) from the SGC firm, with the company's population report revealing that just one other Moncton Hawks card, another similar Foster card, has ever graded higher (84). Just 30 cards total (all eight players combined) have ever been submitted to SGC. Meanwhile, a card of Aubrey Webster is slabbed EX 5 (60) and is a Pop 4, with four others reaching EX/NM 6 (80) status. A duplicate Foster card, at VG/EX 4 (50), is also included and completes the trio of scarcities.
