Pierre Larouche broke a Habs record owned by Jean Beliveau late in the 1979-80 season on his way to becoming the first player to post 50-goal campaigns for two NHL teams. The Canadiens presented this plaque to Larouche in honor of his 48th goal of the season, which broke Big Jean's 1955-56 record for goals by a Habs centerman. Larouche, who scored 53 goals as a Penguins sophomore in 1975-76, got his record-breaking goal against Edmonton's Ron Low in the first period of a 7-3 win at Northlands Coliseum on March 15. He scored his 50th goal 10 days later against HOFer Tony Esposito, a team record for centres that still stands. Please see our website description for more information about this item which comes with Pierre Larouche's signed LOA. From Pierre Larouche’s personal collection, this 15” x 10” wood plaque features a Canadiens CH logo with red and blue enamel paint and an Oilers NHL game puck mounted on a blue metal plaque with Larouche’s name and details of his record-breaking 48th goal in French, including the notation that the plaque represents a new team record for goals in a season by a centre. The plaque remains a wonderful display piece with a few light scratches on its surface to note.
