Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
The first American player in NHL history to score 500 career goals and reach 1,000 points, Joey Mullen dressed for four different clubs throughout his career, with a pair of Lady Byng Memorial Trophies captured along with a trio of Stanley Cup championships. Mullen would be the first Penguins player to register consecutive four-goal games and would score 87 points in 77 games, all during the season the offered Donadeo-Sullivan Award was presented to the HOFer in 1991-92. At 17” in height and featuring an 11” metal player on marble base mounted to a large, finished wooden base with beveled edges, a 3 ½” x 7” gold-coloured plaque with the particulars engraved including “Donadeo-Sullivan Award”, “Joe Mullen” and “1991-92” is affixed to the front of the base.
In absolutely stunning condition and displaying majestically with just very light surface wear, the wooden base is hollow and sports a label from AAA Engraving to the interior, and we should note that we are unsure if the stick is original to the piece, and that it was (re)-attached at some point.
