Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Presented only twice, with the first example awarded in 2008, the NHL Lifetime Achievement Award is presented “to an individual whose long-term contributions to hockey have been representative of all that is outstanding about the National Hockey League and the game, both on and off the ice.” Gordie Howe was the first recipient in 2008, with the offered trophy only the second ever awarded, with this unique and attractive specimen presented to Jean Beliveau in 2009, and it hails from his personal collection. Differing from the example present to Mr Hockey, our trophy sits approx 14” in height, with a mounted chrome cylinder with four pointed stacks, mounted to a tiered and finished blond wooden base. NHL shield logos have been affixed to each side of the trophy (four in total), with “Lifetime Acheivement Award” etched over the reverse. A plaque has been affixed to the base, with “Jean Beliveau”, “Montreal Canadiens” and “2009” engraved. The underside is covered in brown felt, with a sticker from noted NHL trophy-maker Boffey affixed. An LOA from the Beliveau family will accompany.
In gorgeous condition with no issues, there is some oxidation over the top components.
