Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Receiving his famous moniker due to a resemblance to lovable comic strip character Andy Gump, Lorne Worsley spent an amazing 21 seasons in the NHL, retiring shortly before his 45th birthday. We have a stick used by the HOFer during his time in Minnesota during the early-1970s. A Sher-Wood Pattern Pro model, “Worsley” appears on the upper shaft, with “1” handwritten, with clear tape added over the intact striping stickers. The especially solid lumber features the original tape over the blade, paddle and knob, with light but definite use exhibited, with wear to the taped section of blade. We should also note a small piece of clear tape has been added near the tip of the blade to keep the final strand of tape affixed.
