Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Originally part of the Milt Schmidt collection and obtained directly from his family, we have an especially rare and highly desirable team-signed photo of the 1934-35 Boston Bruins, who were the American Division champions for the third time in five years, with this example most likely seeing original placement within Boston Garden. At roughly 14 ½” x 19 ½”, the sepia-toned image pictures the full squad in an on-ice pose, with all 21 players and management signing beneath the image, including GM Art Ross, coach Frank Patrick and executive Weston Adams, along with fellow HOFers Shore, Thompson, Siebert, Barry, Stewart and Dit Clapper. The signatures have been executed in fountain pen, with the season “1934-35” handwritten along the bottom right.
The remaining signers include Sands, Kaminsky, Beattie, O’Neill, Shill, Haynes, McInenly, Portland, Shannon, Davie, Motter and trainer Win Green. The signatures all display well including the Shore and Thompson, with a few somewhat bunched-up and infringed upon, including the Patrick and Ross examples. The photo itself has been affixed to a hard cardboard backing, with some creasing and toning present, along with a pair of pinholes. There is also some wear along edges, particularly the bottom border.
