Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
The sequel to the iconic 1972 Canada-Russia series and originally planned as a six-game tournament, the 1974 Summit Series featured stars from the WHA led by Bobby Hull battling the mighty Soviets, with Pat Stapleton – one of only three players to see action in both 1972 and 1974, serving as team captain. Originating from his personal collection, we have a stick issued to Stapleton for the 1974 Summit Series. A special CCM “Canada ‘74” model produced specifically for the tournament with red and white graphics, “Stapleton” is stamped to the upper shaft, with the striping accent intact. Showing no use but sporting age and storage wear (there are a few faint and illegible signatures on the upper shaft), the stick displays beautifully and hails from one of the most famous international hockey tournaments in history. An LOA from the Stapleton family will accompany this prized lumber.
