Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Gorgeous green mesh Hartford Whalers worn by team captain Mike Rogers during the 1980-81 campaign. Heavy mesh uniform has a thick knit waist with Mike's number "17" on the back and arms and the "C" up at the chest. A peak inside reveals a double fight strap, the Good Sports tagging and size "48" and year "80" fly tags. An additional label goes into great detail on the washing instructions. Game usage is obvious and we do spot a good number of stick marks on the lower front, the crest, inside the left arm and again over on the right sleeve and cuff. Best is the pair of Pucky whales swimming across each shoulder and we also note that the letters forming Mike's surname on the back are sewn directly onto the shirt without a plate. Mike was the team's leading scorer with 105 points in 1980-81. A wonderfully defunct design!
