A veteran of 852 National Hockey League games as a member of the Montreal Canadiens after being drafted by them 12th overall at the 1974 NHL Amatuer Draft, Mario Tremblay would help the famed bleu, blanc et rouge to a total of five (5) Stanley Cup championships during the decade of the 1970s before retiring in September of 1986. Also serving as Montreal's bench boss for two (2) seasons in the mid-1990s, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey of Tremblay's that dates to circa 1977. A Wilson made durene knit garment, a brand tag that displays a size "44" designation is affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front of the bright red jersey with Montreal's famous "CH" team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Tremblay's number "14" in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals. Sporting its original garter style fight strap on the interior of the jersey as well as a chain-stitched "77" year swatch, it is important to note that the "77" tagged Canadiens jerseys were first worn by the team during the 1976-77 Stanley Cup Playoffs plus Finals and were then worn later on during the 1977-78 regular season as well, with the numbers on the sleeves placed above the blue stripe on the arms. Additionally, during the 1976-77 regular season, the jerseys had the numbers in the blue striping on the sleeves and similar number placement on their backs however the Wilson tag was different and the jerseys didn't have a "77" swatch tag in the hem. Showing no evidence of game-use but displaying a black mark through the bottom of the front crest as well as a stain above, it is also important to point out that the jersey has no evidence of having a former nameplate over the upper reverse and it is unknown when this particular set of jerseys were to be worn by the team. Overall still a very appealing offering from the fruitful dynasty that was the 1970s, don't miss out on this one!
