Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Spending his first four NHL seasons in Motor City, Marcel Dionne would conclude his tenure in Detroit with the Red Wings in 1974-75, with the deal sending him to Los Angeles the richest in hockey history to that point. From his final season in Michigan, we have a signed stick used by the Hall of Fame superstar in 1974-75. A CCM Custom Pro model, “Dionne” appears stamped over the upper shaft (partially obscured), with “12” handwritten beneath (Dionne wore the #12 jersey with Detroit only in 1974-75). There is also a piece of tape that was added to the shaft, with “Dionne” visible but heavily faded. The original well-worn white tape appears over the blade and handle, with the striping accent now gone. Showing nice game-use with wear to the blade and lower shaft, there is also a bit of red paint transfer visible. Dionne has signed across the blade tape in black marker, adding “Best Wishes”, with the blade and lower shaft shellacked.
