Kirk Muller’s 1991 Canada Cup signed Team Canada practice-worn jersey is a testament to the depth of Canada’s pool of elite hockey talent. This Muller jersey was actually originally done up for Penguins forward Mark Recchi, who declined his invitation to take part in camp. “Muller” in white twill letters is sewn on a red nameplate that covers the original “Recchi” heat screened in white vinyl under the nameplate. This was done in a similar fashion to a Goulet 1991 Canada Cup Team Canada practice jersey we handled in the past. Muller, who was ultimately cut from camp, signed at the top of what remains on the white vinyl “8” on the back that displays substantial flaking and vinyl loss, as do the numbers on both sleeves. He also signed the fight strap, adding the number “11” that he wore with the Montreal Canadiens after wearing No. 9 with the New Jersey Devils. Maska Air-Knit and size 52 fly tags are in the neck. The heat screened Labatt Canada Cup logo in white and blue vinyl on the front have held up very well. Practice and scrimmage wear shows in black marks on the front and both sleeves, which also display board burns.
