This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A coup for the city of Montreal as the first Canadian locale to host the Olympics, the 1976 Summer Games witnessed the Soviets dominate with 125 total medals, followed by the East Germans with 90. Originating from the collection of Hall of Fame icon Jean Beliveau, we have a pair of 1976 Montreal Olympics $100 gold proof coins in their original boxes. Legal tender, each attractive 1” coin is constructed of 22 karat gold and carries a $100.00 face value, with a Classical Greece scene on the obverse along with mention of the 21st Olympiad, with a traditional image of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse. Currently selling in the $400.00 range per coin, each is accompanied by its original 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” wooden box with leather flip top, with an LOA from the Beliveau family to accompany.
Each coin exhibits surface wear, mostly over each obverse, with just light wear to the original boxes.
