Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
On top of the hockey world as a recent 5-time consecutive Stanley Cup champion, Jacques Plante would complete another banner season in 1961-62, securing yet another Vezina Trophy along with a Hart Memorial – the only one of his illustrious career. At roughly 8" in height and originally obtained from Jacques' first wife, this impressive silver-plated ice bucket was presented to the deceased HOFer for the Habs first-place finish during the NHL regular season. Scripted engraving on the handled bucket reads “National Hockey League - League Champions 1961-62 – Club De Hockey Canadien Inc. – Jacques Plante”, with additional markings along the underside of “Victorian Plate/E.P. Copper (electro plated on copper)/B.M. Mounts/Made in Canada/1968”.
Heavy tarnish along with loss to the surface finish is present, with a small bend to the top rim near the reverse.
