Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
From the man they called Mr. Hockey, we have a wonderful stick used by iconic superstar Gordie Howe during the twilight of his oh so long career when he, along with Bobby Hull, brought a dignified air to the rebel WHA league. Hailing from his time with the Houston Aeros in the mid-1970s, and originally obtained from John Tonelli according to our consignor, we have a Northland Custom Pro model, with a name blacked-out on the shaft, and “9” handwritten above. Originally produced for another player, the stick features Howe’s original tape job in place, with white on the blade and white over black on the knob, along with a serial number on the topside of the shaft of ”1362-2”. Thorough use is exhibited on the desirable lumber, with considerable wear to the blade and lower shaft. There is also a dedicated signature on the upper shaft that has mostly faded away.
