Hall of Fame front row of Selke, O'Connor, Richard, Durnan, Lach, Blake and Irvin is featured in Emile "Butch" Bouchard's original 1946-47 Montreal Canadiens team photo. Butch and fellow HOFer Reardon are standing together in the back row of this vintage 10 1/2" x 18 1/2" Rice Studio print that measured 10 1/2" x 18 1/2" before it was professionally framed. It now displays to about 10 1/4" x 17 3/4" as mounted in an off-white and black double matte in a 17 1/2" x 25" frame. Rice notation appears in bottom right. This amazing original Montreal Canadiens team photo, which has been professionally framed, has two vertical creases, a gouge and a few marks that do not diminish its display. Comes with Butch Bouchard's signed LOA. There is a vertical crease through the middle of the image between Bouchard and Reardon in the back row and Durnan and Lach in the front, and another on the far left side of the image from the top edge to just above Frank Selke’s right knee. Gouges that have left marks on the image on Durnan’s lower left sleeve, the right side of the top of Durnan’s head, a diagonal scrape in the black background above and behind Bouchard and Reardon in the back row, and a long white mark on the inside edge of Blake’s right sock.
Prior to being professionally framed this print was observed as mounted on its original cardboard backing with Rice Studios stamp on the reverse and “1947” handwritten in black ink. There were three clear plastic tape strips attached to the top edge and both sides of the reverse, which are no longer visible as currently framed, nor are various pencil notations and scribbling grouped on the left side of the cardboard reverse, which has a small hole in the lower middle from the gouge on Durnan’s arm. There are tape residue remnants in the middle of the top edge and on the right side, which are visible, and on the left, which is not.
