Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Great piece of history from the longstanding rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs is this set of three silver spoons presented to deceased Habs HOFer Emile "Butch" Bouchard as Maple Leaf Gardens Star of the Game on November 14, 1945. Better known for his stalwart defending, Butch scored Montreal's fifth goal in a 6-1 win over the Leafs. Three silver spoons, each marked "Sterling" with hallmarks on the back, come in their original presentation box with the date of the game on the cover. Comes with Butch Bouchard's signed LOA. The box is nicely preserved, complete and fully intact with handling that shows in wear on the blue-outlined edges on the top of the cover, which reads, "Maple Leaf Gardens (followed by a blue star symbol) of Game". "Nov 14th 1945" appears in black ink at the end of the first line with, "Compliments of Roden Bros. Ltd., Sterling Silver, by Roden" below it.
