Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Originating from Motown in the late-1960s, we have a wonderful vintage game-worn Detroit Red Wings jersey attributed to Jim Watson. Void of collar labeling, a General Athletic washing instruction label resides on the inside hem. Styled with an embroidered winged-wheel team crest along with single white sleeve and lower bands made famous by the Wings, the solid red durene has been accented with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers. We should note that a number of other players wore the #18 in the mid-to-late-1960s, with no visible signs of number change. Most of the stitching on the team crest was also redone at some point. A few random marks are present along with a small hole over the front. There are also 5 team repairs present, with 3 on the front along with single examples over each sleeve. An LOA from Classic will accompany.
Other players who wore #18 for Detroit in the mid-to-late-1960s; 1966-67 Bryan Watson, Warren Godfrey and Ted Taylor, 1967-68 Jim Watson, 1968-69 Ed Hatoum and D. Lawson, 1969-70 Dale Rolfe and Matt Ravlich.
