Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
A Motor City landmark for over half a century and featuring a seating capacity upon it’s opening matched by few venues, the hallowed Olympia Stadium presented the city of Detroit with big league hockey, with countless superstars regularly gracing it’s ice surface including timeless legends Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuk. This original pair of attached red seats hails from the historic arena and features the signatures of Motown icons Mr Hockey and Norm Ullman. At 34” in height and in gorgeous condition, the pair sport completely refurbished seat arms and rests, with the paint scheme in solid Detroit red completely redone throughout at some point including to the metal components. Ullman has signed the left seat back, Howe the right, with both black marker signatures flawless. The seats are also mounted to a white rectangular base with full Red Wings logos (15” x 44”). A framed display with reproduction 1950s program, reproduction 1963 tickets, and modern images of the venue and Sawchuk have been matted and framed to full dimensions of 18” x 35” (light wear to the frame).
