Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

A force to be reckoned with in the WHA, the Winnipeg Jets were Avco Cup champions three times – the only club to do so - including back-to-back victories in 1978 and 1979. We have a perpetual trophy that was awarded from 1974-79 to three standouts with the club, Swede’s Ulf Nilsson (1974-75, 1977-78), Anders Hedberg (1975-76, 1976-77) and Kent Nilsson (1978-79), but we’re unsure of it’s history. At roughly 22” x 11” x 25” and perhaps a fan or MVP team award, a tiered wooden base has small shield plaques affixed for each season/player, with a mounted section topped by a metal Nike goddess along with twin torches and mounted generic players along each side of the base. A plaque – most likely explaining the trophies purpose - has been lost and is no longer present, with the trophy in very good overall condition with moderate expected wear to the base and affixed components.
