Leading the US to victory during the Spanish-American conflict, William McKinley was the last president to have served in the American Civil War. Elected to Congress in 1876 and later elected governor of Ohio in 1891 and 1893, McKinley secured the Republican nomination for president in 1896, defeating his Democratic rival William Jennings Bryan. Serving as the 25th President of the United States at the close of the 19th century, McKinley was in office from March 4, 1897 to September 14, 1901. We have a signed calling card from the Ohio native. At approx 2 ¾” x 4 ¼”, “Executive Mansion, Washington” appears over the upper right, with McKinley adding a gorgeous and flowing black ink fountain pen signature, with just minor fading taking place. The card itself exhibits just a few small blemishes, with faint residue over the reverse. There is also a small “#3” written in pencil over the lower left front corner. McKinley would be assassinated while in office in 1901 at the age of 58. An LOA from JSA will accompany, along with a COA.
