Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The NHL’s final hurrah as just a six-team league before doubling to twelve with expansion, the 1966-67 Toronto Maple Leafs closed out the glorious Original Six era as Stanley Cup champions, the team’s last monumental victory. We have a stick team-signed by those oh so memorable Leafs. A full-size generic model made for a right-hand player, 18 have signed across one side of the shaft in varying inks including HOFers Horton, Sawchuk, Keon, Duff, Stanley, Mahovlich, Kelly, Pronovost, Armstrong and Bob Pulford. The signatures all display well, especially the Sawchuk and Horton, with a crack at the tip of the blade to mention.
Additional signers include Walton, Shack, Stemkowski, Conacher, Pappin, Baun, Ellis and trainers Naylor and Haggert. All players were with the team with the exception of Dick Duff, with a faded Allan Stanley signature appearing beneath the Duff example, with the most plausible explanation being that a previous owner thought it was Duff's signature that had faded, and had him sign over top.
