Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Forming in 1986-97 and playing in the Intercollegiate Hockey League alongside Yale, Brown and Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania Quakers hockey program reached the varsity level in 1965-66, with the school’s athletic department dropping the varsity program after the 1977-78 season. We have a 1975 UofP Quakers hockey team sterling silver ring, with this specimen originally presented to coach Robert Finke. Size 10 with an approx weight of 20 grams, a red stone sits centered over the tableau, encompassed by “University of Pennsylvania” and “1975”. The right shank has a full colour enamel UofP logo, while the left has a generic hockey player, with “Finke” above and “Coach” below. The inner band is stamped "35" and "Balfour Sterling".
Moderate to heavier wear is present on the keepsake, with surface wear to the outer and inner band, along with tiny nicks and grooves along edges. Despite these issues, the ring remains in beautiful condition and displays well.
