Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The 2002 gold medal win at the Winter Olympics was more than just business as usual for Canada, with the victory in Utah the first the dominant hockey program had seen in 50 years. We have an absolutely gorgeous and patriotic original painting of both Mario Lemieux along with his Canadian teammates, celebrating the important victory. Executed by noteworthy artist and charitable organization supporter Murray Henderson, he has stated that this work profiles the "First Gold in 50 years Salt Lake City team Canada celebrations. 10 prints were produced for children’s charity and sold out." Framed to full dimensions of roughly 30 ½” x 44 ½”, the on-ice celebrations are profiled, with the artist signing within a Team Canada logo along the bottom right.
Some wear is present along the top and bottom portions of the frame, especially along edges.
