Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Still widely considered one of the world’s greatest sporting upsets despite it’s almost forty year vintage, the 1980 US Olympic victory is highly collected and celebrated, with any and all items pertaining to the team feverishly sought after. We have a Jim Craig 1980 Winter Olympics Team USA Gold Medal "Miracle on Ice" 10K Gold Salesman's Sample Ring. Size 9 ½” with an approx. weight of 31 grams, five “Olympic Ring” zirconias set in blue enamel grace the tableau, with “USA Olympic Hockey” above and “Gold Medalist” below. A 1980 Games logo with the scores of the games vs the Russians and Finns are present on the left shank, with an Olympic torch along with “Craig” above and “30” below over the right. The inner band has the scores of the other 5 US contests engraved, along with "Balfour 10K" and "Miracle on ice".
Moderate use is present on the ring, with scratches and wear to the band and along edges. Addendum; there is a half dozen or so very small chips located on the edge of the blue stone on the tableau.
