Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Terrific tan leather Rawlings baseball-style throwback gloves with the big red Rawlings label issued to and worn by Sharpshooter Brett Hull for the 1996 NHL All-Star Weekend held in Boston. The special edition gloves have been customized to Brett’s specs with a custom palm insert sewn onto the right glove only. Both have “Hull” screened on the cuff and Brett has signed each with added notations “HOF”, “741 Goals” and “9x All Star”. A third sig was thrown in for good measure! Our consignor has added a custom hologram decal to each glove. Light use on the outside but the palms show wear, more in the left. Also included is a sweet game-used Easton HX4800 with a Christian blade, fully taped at both ends and signed by Brett with “16”.
Brett Hull took to the ice during the All-Star Game in 1996 wearing these exact style gloves and wielding an Easton Aluminum with identical graphics as the one offered in this lot, right down to the Christian logo on one side of the blade only. The stick displays great game use with contact marks along the shaft and good wear along the bottom of the black cloth tape blade. The aged cloth tape at the handle is capped with a few strips of creamy gauze tape. It must be noted that the stick has three spots of glue and paper residue remnants from where it was once displayed in a framed case.
