Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A trio of items that would make any Motown supporter envious, we have a pair of signed and game-used sticks from both Brendan Shanahan and Tomas Holmstrom, along with a Detroit Red Wings street banner from the Stanley Cup championship era of circa-2002. Each item was originally gifted directly to our consignor, Ken Daniels. A sportscaster with CBC from 1985 to 1997, Daniels is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit. The Shanahan stick is an Easton Classic model used while with the Wings in the late-1990s/early-2000s, with “Shanahan” over the inserted blade stem, with the original black tape over the handle and blade. Just light use is exhibited, with Brendan signing the front side heel in black marker. The Holmstrom example saw action while the Swede was with the Wings in the mid-2000s, with “Holmstrom” factory graphics and the original red cloth wrap over the handle. The original tape job is intact on the blade, with just a single strand of tape placed horizontally over each side – a common trait for Holmstrom, with heavy use exhibited, with wear to the blade and shaft including heavy dark marking. Lastly, the Red Wings banner is approx. 30” x 97”, with screened-on Red Wings logo along with "Let 'Em See Red" in large letters, with grommets for mounting. Showing just light wear commensurate with its former use, the banner remains in beautiful condition. LOAs for each item will accompany from Ken Daniels.
