Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A rare opportunity, Classic Auctions is pleased to announce yet another partnership with the historic Montreal Canadiens franchise, one that will bring to auction a large and impressive bounty of jerseys fresh from the vast and seldom offered holdings of the storied hockey club. Examples are present from 2006-07 to 2014-15, with both important game-issued and game-worn jerseys offered, with a direct line from the actual player and the Canadiens franchise – to you, our loyal bidders. Each desirable jersey has inventory numbers from the Canadiens, with each to be accompanied by a letter of authenticity on Canadiens letterhead.
Another beautiful matching-season pair, we have home and away Habs jerseys from the 2011-12 NHL season that were worn in the preseason by Phil DeSimone (home) and Alex Henry (away). Each jersey features size tagging along the collar (58+-Henry / 56-DeSimone) with handwritten “1”, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the most famous and recognizable team crest in hockey, both V-neck sweaters have been accented with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with each respective player’s name across the nameplate in single twill. The Henry jersey exhibits a large fabric pull over the right sleeve along with a few random faint marks, while the DeSimone example has large holes over the right sleeve resulting from board burns, along with tape added near each armpit to “hem up” the sleeves. We should also note that the LOA states that the Henry jersey is a “Home Set” example, despite the garment being an away jersey. Team patches on the “Set 1” jerseys are numbered “A02721” (DeSimone) and “A02647” (Henry), while holograms affixed to the reverse numbers of each (GU11249-DeSimone / GU11305-Henry) match the accompanying LOAs from the Canadiens.
