Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
An inviting quality example of Ted Lindsay’s 1951-52 Parkhurst rookie card is offered here, with card #56 housed in an early PSA holder that is labelled “NM 7”. Rich bold colors strike the beholder, with light even toning to note, along with some reddish ink, from once having been stacked along with other Red Wings cards, visible on the reverse. A participant in 11 consecutive NHL All-Star Games, “Terrible Ted” was the highest goal-scoring left winger in history, (379 career goals) when he retired for good in 1964-65 following a one-year comeback after a four-year retirement. When this card was found in a little Parkhurst “box” in ’51-52, Lindsay and linemates Gordie Howe and Sid Abel were in the process of leading the Red Wings to a 100-point regular season championship, prior to an impressive eight-game sweep of the playoffs, the squad’s performance ranking the team as one of the most potent/powerful of all time.
