Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

The NHL’s first American franchise, the Boston Bruins continue to be one of the most followed and collected teams, with any and all items from the club’s early years highly desirable. We have just that in this lot, with a pair of team photos hailing from 1926-27 and 1933-34. The 1926-27 photo is a composite example, with all team members and management pictured including HOFers Shore (rookie season!), Ross, Cleghorn, Fredrickson and Harry Oliver, framed to total dimensions of 12” x 15”. The 1933-34 photo features members of the Boston Bruins and Bruins Cubs posed in suits in front of the Boston Garden, with HOFers Ross, Oliver, Thompson, Stewart and Dit Clapper appearing in this unique vintage 9” x 13 ¾” photograph.
The 1926-27 Bruins photo exhibits some surface wear with toning, with a portion of the photo appearing stuck to the glass on the left hand side. The frame itself also exhibits wear. The 1933-34 Bruins/Cubs photo exhibits heavy wear, with some chipping, toning and warping taking place. There are also a few large vertical creases, including an example on the left hand side that goes from top to bottom. A vintage caption pasted on the reverse names all of the players that appear in the photo, and despite the low technical condition, the image displays well.
