Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
A complete coaching outfit, head to toe, worn by the much-loved head of the hockey program at the University of Wisconsin during the Seventies, possibly into the early Eighties. Bob Johnson led the Badgers to three NCAA Championship titles during the period and, in 1987, was named to the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame for his efforts. The grouping of wearables begins with a vintage Seventies coach's windbreaker jacket in red and white with the BADGERS skate logo at the chest and WISCONSIN HOCKEY on the back. The nylon jacket, in near mint condition, has elastic cuffs and a draw-string waist and is tagged in the collar by Champion in size XL and marked "78-32" inside. This comes with a pair of heavy stretch knit training pants, again with the team's skate logo, in size large by Champion. The pants have zippers running up from each cuff and are in great shape. Rounding out the lot are a polo-style top in white, size Large by Pickering with an embroidered "Wisconsin Hockey" design at the chest and a wonderful white wool sweater in size large with the "Wisconsin Hockey" badger logo embroidered onto the breast. All items are in excellent condition. Obtained in an estate sale of personal items that had been saved by Bob Johnson and will come with a letter of provenance.
