Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The frequency in which Wayne Gretzky O-Pee-Chee rookie cards show up at our headquarters is substantial when compared with this very infrequent sighting; an uncut sheet, highlighted by that famous card #18 from 1979-80. Onlookers will gawk and gape at this fascinating piece which also offers looks at all of the team cards, some “leader” cards, the team logos of NHL newcomers Edmonton, Winnipeg and Hartford, icons Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull in the twilight of their careers and other Hall of Famers, with Jean Ratelle and Marcel Dionne cards close to the Gretz rookie. Held in a plexi-glass frame, the sheet exhibits creases, most of them peripheral affairs, with however a light horizontal crease bridging the upper part of the Gretzky and the Rick Chartraw card to its right. Wayne shows up in the second row from the top, eighth card from the left. What an awesome display!
