Nifty artwork leads chronologically here, with Gordie Howe and some of his Detroit Red Wings teammates depicted in a 1970-71 Marathon Oil issue, the 7-1/2" by 10" "Pro Star Portraits" by artist Nicholas Volpe free of creases and EX to NM. Delvecchio, Unger, Rutherford, Bergman and MacGregor are among them, with a Frank Mahovlich example required for completion. A near set (50/51) of 1974-75 Lipton Soup cards is impressive, given that we spot very few creases and four full borders on most cards. These were difficult to cut cleanly back in the day as the borders came right to the edge of the soup boxes. Orr, Dryden, Sittler, Perreault, Clarke and Tony Esposito lead the Hall of Fame lineup, with a Borje Salming variation not present. Postcard-like cards (3-1/2" x 5") of Canada's National Junior team in 1983 include desirable early cards of Mario Lemieux (EX-MT) and Steve Yzerman (NM), with Andreychuk, Vernon, Verbeek, Flatley, Tanti and Turgeon also appearing on the blank-backed cards, with only light corner wear observed. Three interesting ensembles which don't turn up frequently are up for grabs.
