Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

A splendid opportunity to secure a unique O-Pee-Chee set is offered here, with a whopping 41 big (5” by 7”) cards being rookie cards, joined by numerous big names. We’re pleased to report that over half are in appealing crease-free condition or have only a small or light or subtle or peripheral crease, to go along with minor corner wear, meaning the majority are in the VG, VG+, VG-EX and VG-EX+ realm. This group is highlighted by the key Sid Abel RC (VG+), the most valuable card (#100-Eddie Shore (VG)), rookie cards of Woody Dumart, Bobby Bauer, Babe Pratt, Bryan Hextall and Roy Conacher and HOFers Dit Clapper, Charlie Conacher, Busher Jackson, Red Horner, Cooney Weiland and Syl Apps, with the latter looking to be a condition leader at EX. Clean, problem-free backs strike the beholder, along of course with some players in dress clothes – like we said, unique! The Frank Brimsek rookie (Poor) is among the condition exceptions with paper loss on the reverse and joined by 16 others with back issues, while another 11 have enough creasing/wear to send them to below VG. Please visit our website for more images and condition details – this is an intriguing assembly, with 19 duplicates also in the mix.
Six commons have back damage in the way of dime/nickel/quarter-size pieces of black photo album paper at the four corners, while eight have not-drastic writing in pencil on the upper back (i.e. a number and position and team name), including 34-Coulter and 38-M. Patrick RC, with the (crease-free) Bill Cowley rookie affected by two pieces of scotch tape. Lower-than-VG notables are 2-Broda, 17-H. Smith, 35-C. Smith RC, 36-L. Patrick and 75-Thompson. Noteworthy duplicates are Charlie Conacher (F), 92-Weiland (VG (ST)) and Shore (P with piercing in the face area). An interesting set like no other awaits its new home.
