Captivating and stirring are these extraordinary pre-war treasures, many of which have been miraculously preserved in very similar condition as to when they were unwrapped some 80 years ago! And what a way to lead-off, with a Turk Broda rookie card graded NM-MT 8 helping to contribute to a set rating of 7.83. This set was a PSA Certificate Award Winner five years in a row, (2011-2015), currently sits at number two and is third in PSA history. It features four of only 19 total 1936-37 O-Pee-Chee cards to have ever been awarded a mark superior to NM-MT 8 in the history of PSA, with #s 99-Jack Shill RC, 105- Neil Colville RC, 113-Art Wiebe RC and 128-Lynn Patrick housed in holders labelled NM-MT+ 8.5. All but the Wiebe are Pop 1s with none higher. Twenty-one others earned NM-MT 8 recognition, including Hall of Famers 98-Schriner RC, 117-Goodfellow, 122-Horner, 123-Charlie Conacher, 124-Busher Jackson, 125-Clancy, 129-Joliat, 132-Hooley Smith and the aforementioned 97-Broda. Highlighting the remaining eleven are cards of icons Howie Morenz (EX-MT 6) and Eddie Shore (EX-MT+ 6.5), with those of Lionel Conacher (NM 7) and Syl Apps (EX-MT+ 6.5) also contributing to the remarkable booty. It’s time for the most serious of hobbyists to...pop up, but not out! A pre-war home run is possible here.
