Another interesting offering from our consignor's splendid Tinkers-to-Evers-to-Chance graded baseball collection, this 1914 issue by Coupon Cigarettes depicts the star second baseman with the Chicago Cubs, but identifies him with Boston of the National League. The passage of Evers as player-manager of the Cubs to the the Braves prior to the start of the 1914 season is ultra-intriguing but too long to sum up here. We'll recall though how Evers led the Braves to the National League championship, despite Boston being in last place on July 4th. Then, in the World Series Johnny hit for a .438 average (7-for-16), helping Boston beat the Philadelphia Athletics four games to none. He was named the NL's 1914 MVP! Examined and graded GOOD 2 by PSA, this Pop 4 is bettered by only seven other similar cards in the history of PSA, with the company inspecting less than two dozen (23) in the past.
