Beckett graders have examined and slabbed nine C55 cards from 1911-12 here, with a group of five uniform condition Montreal Canadiens edged by the lone Quebec Bulldogs’ representative, Ed Oatman’s card #5 receiving a mark of VG-EX+ 4.5. At VG-EX 4 is 39-Henri Dallaire, while early Canadiens’ star Didier Pitre’s card #41 comes in at VG+ 3.5, the same as fellow Habs 37-Art Bernier, 43-Eugene Payan and 44-Georges Poulin. Renfrew Millionaire teammates 21-Bert Lindsay (G-VG 2.5) and 23-Bobby Rowe (Fair 1.5) also sport turtleneck sweaters, with paper loss rendering a second 37-Art Bernier card Poor 1. Completing the tobacco card lot and from Imperial Tobacco’s 1912-13 C57 series is another card of Ted Lindsay’s goalkeeping father Bert who had left Renfrew and gone west to play for the Victoria Aristocrats. It is graded Fair 1.5 by the SGC.
